How it works

A reservation is made for one of the clinics and the cat is brought to the location in the morning and discharged the same day.   Cats must be in a secure individual carrier ( one cat per carrier )

Reservations can be made online or by calling the Spay Van at (302) 231-8115.  The schedule for the coming clinics is posted on this site and published in the Sussex Guide and  Cape Gazette.

PREPARING FOR SURGERY- Cats are brought to the location in carriers or traps, one cat per carrier.  Check- in is between 9 and 9:30am. Adult cats should not have food after Midnight. ( water is OK ). Cats in traps or recently caught cats should NOT BE FASTED.  A adequate amount of food should be offered to these cats because we do not know when and how much they had eaten in the last several days )

All kittens six months of age or younger should not be fasted overnight and must be fed the morning of surgery. Withholding food from young or thin cats can be dangerous. In addition these young or thin cats should be offered canned food immediately after surgery.

A form will be provided at the time of check-in where you can request additional services, such as other vaccines, ( rabies is included in the price of the surgery ), worming, FeLV/ FIV testing etc. ( the services are listed on the next page).  The cats will be discharged  between 5 and 6:00pm.  These times are approximate.

Instructions on the care of your cat for the next few days will be given at discharge.

   Dicharge times are approximate.
